Hemp

Our hemp is clean and bright, and very easy to split. A long standing favourite traditionally of the roach fisherman, hemp fished on the hook can prove deadly on rivers and running water, but attracts a whole host of other fish species. Carp, bream, barbel and tench also love munching through a bed of cooked hemp. The dark oily seeds are a proven attractor of fish.

All particles should be cooked before use as uncooked they can harm fish.

Hemp seed should be soaked for 24 hours prior to cooking. Then boiled for about 20 minutes until the kernals have split. Do not worry if all the kernals do not split as they will still have been softened. Allow the cooked hemp to cool in the cooing water until cold as this will encourage the seeds to turn black. Either store the hemp in the cooking water to help the formation of natural fermentation and sugars. Alternatively keep some of the cooking water to add to groundbait for that extra edge as it will contain a lot of hemp oil.
